Our next Camp Sonshine will run in January 2021!!
Here is a little a sneak pick of what it’s all about…
Camp Sonshine is a week-long day camp catering for children aged 5-12, running during the summer school holidays Our campers are on site from 8.30am – 4pm, and each day is filled with different activities. Children are put into similar age groups of 8-12 children whom they will get to know really well over the course of the week. In their groups, our campers travel around the Spires Life Church Campus to attend various games and activities, some of which include Archery Tag, a Giant Obstacle Course, Wet’n’Wild Wednesday, Silent Disco, Crafts, Indoor and Outdoor Sports and much, much more.
Each year we have a new theme – 2020 was called ‘Treasures in Heaven’ and it was all things ‘pirate’! Each day starts with an assembly where all campers and volunteers get together for some fun singing, dancing and watching a skit which sets the theme for the day’s events. Campers are required to bring their lunch, hat and a water bottle, and we supply morning and afternoon tea. The day to day activities of camp are run by a trusty group of volunteers who have a Working with Children Check and have undergone training in the weeks leading up to camp (many of our counsellors have volunteered for the 7 years Camp Sonshine has been running). We also have first aid qualified teachers and volunteers, so you can rest assured that your children are taken good care of. At Camp Sonshine 2020 we are introduced a ‘Leaders In Training’ Program for students who are currently in Year 7. The LIT program is designed to give our older children the opportunity to learn what is required to volunteer at Camp Sonshine, supervise some activities, while also giving them a chance to join in a lot of the activities!
